Hocking
I recently toured the Midwest, passing through Detroit, Toledo, Columbus, and the Finger Lakes. One highlight was a brief visit to Skatopia, an 88-acre skatepark near Rutland, Ohio, known for its anarchist atmosphere and annual music festivals, Bowl Bash and Backwoods Blowout. Skatopia has been described as a blend between a Mad Maxian Thunderdome and a utopian skateboard society. However, locals informed me that it wasn't the place it once was, and I found it to be eerily ghost-like and uncomfortable. Despite this, I enjoyed exploring the contrasting landscapes, from hiking in Ohio's mountains to visiting downtown Columbus. If you stop by Columbus, be sure to visit Embassy Skateboard Shop—they are super friendly.
